5/9/2019 8:33:00 AM | Track and Field
Meet Schedule | Men's Heat Sheets | Women's Heat Sheets
WICHITA, Kan. — Tulsa track and field heads to Wichita, Kansas, for the American Outdoor Track and Field Championships this weekend, scheduled to compete Friday-Sunday at Cessna Stadium.
Â
A season ago at the outdoor conference meet, TU took home a trio of titles, as Ashley Barnes (3,000m steeplechase), Ben Preisner (5,000 meters) and Aaliyah Birmingham (400 meters) all claimed golds in 2018.
Â
Along with the three first-place finishes, the Golden Hurricane notched eight (3 men, 5 women) all-conference nods a season ago in Cincinnati, Ohio. At last year's conference meet, the Tulsa men finished fifth overall, while the TU women took home an eighth-place finish.
Â
Heading into the weekend, the Golden Hurricane looks primed to make an impact on the meet, leading the conference in three events this season. Ben Preisner paces the American in the 10,000 meters, while Carsyn Spurgeon (long jump) and Grey Howard (800 meters) both look for their first conference titles.
Â
Friday's schedule is set to begin at noon CT with field and multi-events. Saturday will kick off at 10:30 a.m. CT with the remaining multi-events. The final day of the meet is scheduled for a 2:30 p.m. CT start with field events, while Sunday's slew of track events will begin at 4:30 p.m. CT.
