TULSA, Okla. –– The Tulsa football team practiced on Harwell Field Friday morning for the 14th practice of preseason camp.

"I thought our guys did well today, the cooler temperature obviously helped," said Tulsa head coach Philip Montgomery.

Tulsa will have its Annual Fan Fest on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at H.A. Chapman Stadium. In addition to a team scrimmage. Free Sno-Cones, bounce houses, games for kids, face-painting and food and drinks will be available, as well as post-practice autographs.

TU athletics will also be selling game-worn football jerseys at the Fan Fest. Blue, white and the special edition black jerseys from recent years will be available for purchase with prices ranging from $40-$80.

Going into Saturday, Montgomery talked about the progress his team has made and what still needs to be done.

"We just have to continue making the progress that we're making on both sides of the football. We're having really good competition and we're not making those same mistakes over and over.," said Montgomery. We keep adding things to their plate schematically so there has to be a lot more communication –– making sure that we're covering the right guys, eyes are in the right spot, reading what we need to, but you can't forget the fundamentals that started in week 1, which is coming off the football and getting after it. We have to keep that mentality as we continue to add from a schematic standpoint.

Montgomery also discussed the tight ends, receivers and offensive line following Friday's practices session.

"I feel good with the progress that we've made at tight end with a lot of new faces along with James (Palmer). Those guys are stepping up and doing a nice job. Most of our receivers our very young, but it's good to see their development starting to happen. That's been key," said Montgomery. "Up front those guys are jelling every day and getting better every day. They're taking a lot of pride in what they do. We still have some way to go, but I think we're on the right track to get there."

After Saturday's scrimmage, the Hurricane will not have a Sunday practice, but will return to the field in the afternoon on Monday.
