Horsfall Named to Preseason All-Conference Team, Golden Hurricane Picked Fourth in Preseason Poll

TULSA, Okla. - The University of Tulsa's Taylor Horsfall was named to The American Preseason All-Conference Volleyball Team, as announced by the league on Thursday.
This marks the second time that Horsfall has been named to the American Athletic Conference preseason list. In addition, the senior becomes the second TU volleyball player named to multiple preseason team's since Tulsa joined the league in 2014.
A native of Houston, Texas, the defensive specialist/libero has climbed the record books at Tulsa. Horsfall is a two-time all-conference selection and was named The American Libero of the Year in 2017. She set the program record for most digs in a match (44) and the conference record for digs in a season (755). For her career, she has set three single-game records for digs in a match and ranks third in career digs at Tulsa with 1,684.
The conference also released the coaches' preseason poll on Thursday. The Golden Hurricane were tabbed for fourth in the rankings with 81 points. This ties Tulsa highest ranking which occurred during the 2014 and '15 campaigns, respectively.
Last season, the Golden Hurricane went 19-12 overall with an 11-7 mark in American play. They appeared in the first round of the National Invitational Volleyball Championship, marking the programs first postseason appearance since 2012.
The Golden Hurricane will take the court for the first time this season on Saturday, Aug. 24 at 1 p.m. in an exhibition contest vs. Central Oklahoma at the Donald W. Reynolds Center. The match is free and open to the public.
Tulsa will then prepare for the regular season, with their first match of 2019 slated for Aug. 30 vs. Pepperdine at the North Texas Invite. The Golden Hurricane will make their home debut in the Tulsa Invitational vs. Houston Baptist on Sept. 13 at 12 noon.
Tickets for all regular season volleyball matches this year are $5.00 for general admission seating. A group price of $3.00 per ticket for a minimum of 15 persons is available by calling 918.631.GoTU (4688).
