Tulsa Volleyball Heads to Oral Roberts on Wednesday; Hosts Tulsa Invitational This Weekend

TULSA, Okla. – After being away for the last two weeks, the Tulsa volleyball team will play their next four matches in town. The Golden Hurricane (3-3) will start the week taking on its crosstown rival Oral Roberts (4-4) on Wednesday, Sept. 11 at 7:00 p.m. The match will take place at the Aerobics Center on the campus of ORU.

Following the Oral Roberts contest, Tulsa will make its home debut on Friday, Sept. 13, at the Tulsa Invitational. The two-day tournament will take place at the Donald W. Reynolds Center and includes Houston Baptist, UTSA, and SIUE.

Tulsa will take on Houston Baptist in their home opener at 12 noon on Friday. Houston Baptist is currently 4-3 overall, but will face Rice on Tuesday before heading north this weekend. This will be the fourth all-time meeting between the Golden Hurricane and the Huskies, including the first since 2015. TU is a perfect 3-0 in series.

Later that evening, the Golden Hurricane will square off against UTSA. After going 19-8 in 2018, the Roadrunners are off to a slow start at 2-4 overall. UTSA is a dangerous team, as they have been on the winning side in eight of 11 contests vs. TU. The two team's last played in 2013 when Tulsa was in Conference USA. Tulsa's last win in the series came in 2003.

The Golden Hurricane wrap up tournament play on Saturday, Sept. 14 at 1:00 p.m. against a streaking Cougar team. After losing their first match of the season, SIUE has won its last five contests. That's more than half of their total wins from a year ago (9). Saturday's matchup is the second all-time encounter between the two programs. They first met in 2017 at the Cougar Classic where TU won, 3-0.
