Tulsa Men's Tennis Concludes Competition at Silverado Invitational

NAPA, Calif - The Tulsa men's tennis team opened its fall schedule this weekend at the Silverado Invitational. The three-day invitational took place at the Silverado Resort and Spa in Napa, Calif.

Four Golden Hurricane participated in the event, led by junior Boriss Kamdem and sophomores Stefan Hampe, Daniel Siddall, and Tom Thelwall-Jones.

Tulsa will next compete at the Legacy Bank NWA Tennis Series, starting Monday, Sept. 16. Sophomore Kody Pearson and freshmen Juan Pablo Cenoz and Ezequiel Santalla are set to play in the six-day single-elimination tournament at the Billingsley Tennis Center at Arkansas.

Day One
Tulsa opened play against San Diego State in doubles action. The tandem of Stefan Hampe and Tom Thelwall-Jones defeated Aaro Pollanen and Arnaud Resitfo in an 8-6 triumph.

Borriss Kamdem and Daniel Siddall would drop an 8-5 decision to David Hough and Jan Kirchhoff.

Later that day, the Golden Hurricane faced Buffalo in singles competition. Tulsa would split play in its four matches. Hampe secured the win over Hao Sheng Koay 6-3, 6-1. Thelwall-Jones would pick up a 6-4, 6-3 victory over Matthew Johnson.

Day Two
The Golden Hurricane took to the court against in-state foe Oklahoma State. Boriss Kamdem and Daniel Siddall would fall in a tight 8-7 decision to OSU's Brady Draheim and Luke Hammond.

Tulsa would later split action in singles play vs. Pacific, as Stefan Hampe and Tom Thelwall-Jones picked up their second win of the tournament in singles play.

Hampe defeated Arkam El Sallaly 6-4, 6-3. Thelwall-Jones went the distance against John Horoz Garner. The sophomore won the opening set 6-1, before falling, 6-3 in set two. He would go onto win the tiebreaker, 6-4.

Siddall fell in a tough outing to Tiger Nathan Hampton, 6-7, 6-3, 4-6.

Day Three
The Golden Hurricane and Bulls faced each other once again on Sunday, but this time in doubles action.

Boriss Kamdem and Daniel Siddall suffered a tight 8-6 defeat to Hao Sheng Koay and Matthew Johnson. On the flip side, Stefan Hampe and Tom Thelwall-Jones picked up an 8-3 decision over Vilhelm Fridell and Valdemar Holm.

In singles play, Hampe picked up a 6-1, 6-3 decision over San Diego State's Jan Kirchhoff, 6-1, 6-3. Thelwall-Jones suffered a tough in a tiebreaker to SDSU's Aaro Pollanen, 6-3, 3-6, 7-6(10)
