The Tulsa women's basketball team dropped a 92-34 decision to #4/5 UConn on Sunday afternoon at Gampel Pavilion in Storrs, Conn.  The Golden Hurricane fell to 5-13 on the season and 0-5 in American Athletic Conference play, while the Huskies moved to 16-1 overall and 7-0 in the league.

"Early on UConn got us back on our heels and we weren't making baskets," Head Coach Matilda Mossman said.  "UConn had a great shooting night tonight, they played one of their best games of their year and had a very complete game today.  The decision at the end to get some of our other guys in was because we have another game in 48 hours and we were already down 40 so we didn't want to risk any injuries.  We will need our starters on Tuesday."

Addison Richards had a team-best 11 points, while Kendrian Elliott added six points, a team-high 11 rebounds and two blocks, and Alexis Gaulden had five points and five assists.

UConn had a 42-26 lead in rebounds, a 20-12 advantage in assists and a 14-6 lead in steals, while both teams had three blocks.

The Huskies shot 55-percent from the field, including 60-percent from three-point range and were 10-of-13 from the free throw line, while the Golden Hurricane shot just 25-percent from the field, 13-percent from behind the arc and didn't attempt a free throw.

UConn owned a 24-6 advantage at the end of the first frame and had a 48-11 lead at halftime.  TU shot just 20.8-percent from the field and 8.3-percent from behind the arc, while the Huskies shot 54.3-percent from the field and 61.5-percent from three-point range in the first 20 minutes.

The Golden Hurricane came out and doubled their score with 22 points at the 4:49 mark of the third quarter, and trailed 69-26 at the end of the frame.  Richards scored nine points in the quarter, while Gaulden and Elliott both netted a three-pointer.

Tulsa played it's starting five for the first three minutes of the fourth quarter, but subbed them all out and they didn't play again in the contest.   The Huskies outscored the Hurricane, 23-8, in the final frame for the 58-point win.

The 58-point margin was TU's fourth biggest loss in school history, with Oral Roberts capturing a 67-point win in 1977, and UConn owning a 64-point win and a 60-point victory both in 2016.

UConn was led by Megan Walker with 24 points, while Anna Makurat posted 21, Crystal Dangerfield added 16, and both Christyn Williams and Aubrey Griffin had 11.  Olivia Nelson-Ododa pulled down seven rebounds and had all three blocks for the Huskies.

Tulsa will return to action on Tuesday, January 21 against ECU beginning at 7:00 pm at the Donald W. Reynolds Center.
