THE GAME
• This is the 11th meeting between Tulsa and UConn and the 10th as American Athletic Conference members.
• UConn is 10-8 on the season ... the Huskies come into Sunday's match-up off of a 63-59 road loss against Houston ... UConn has key wins over Florida, Miami and Tulane.
• This will be the first of two meetings between Tulsa and UConn this season, as the Huskies will travel to Tulsa on Feb. 6
• The Huskies enter the game 1-4 in the American Athletic Conference, while Tulsa is 5-1 in conference play.
THE SERIES
• Tulsa holds the series advantage at 6-4 ... the Hurricane is 5-0 at home against UConn, 1-2 on the road and 0-2 in neutral site games.
• Tulsa has won 4 straight meetings against the Huskies including the only meeting between the teams last season.
• Tulsa's last meeting against UConn came on Jan. 16, 2019 as the Hurricane won 89-83 in the Reynolds Center .
• The last meeting in the XL Center between the two teams came on Feb. 15, 2018 as the Hurricane won, 73-71.
• The first game between the two teams came in the 1978-79 season as Tulsa lost to the Huskies 89-68 in Connecticut.
LAST MEETING AGAINST HUSKIES
• The Hurricane took on the Huskies in a conference home game on Jan. 16, 2019, in the Reynolds Center, as Tulsa won by a score of 89-83.
• Jeriah Horne scored 27 points leading Tulsa to a season-high 89 points ... DaQuan Jeffries finished with 14, Martins Igbanu added 13 and Sterling Taplin scored 11.
• Tulsa used a 8-2 run to start the second half to capture their first double-digit lead ... minutes later the Hurricane used a 9-0 run to take a 61-44 lead with 12 minutes left.
• The lead never dipped below six points as TU kept the Huskies at arm's length by hitting 13 free throws in the final four minutes.
• The Huskies were led by Jalen Adams who scored 27 points ... Christian Vital scored 15 points before fouling out ... UConn was held to shooting 42-percent from the field in the contest
THE HURRICANE DOMINATES #20 MEMPHIS
• The Hurricane captured an 80-40 victory over the #23 Memphis Tigers at the Reynolds Center on Jan. 22, 2020.
• Jeriah Horne led 5 Tulsa players in double-digit scoring with 21 points going 9-16 (56%) from the field and grabbed 8 rebounds to lead Tulsa ... it was his 5th time this season scoring 20+ points.
• Brandon Rachal and Martins Igbanu both put in 11 points ... Elijah Joiner and Darien Jackson added 10 points with two assists and one blocked shot each.
• Tulsa held Memphis to 17 points in the first 20 minutes and 23 in the second half. For the game, Tulsa knocked down 50-percent of its field goals, as the Hurricane outscored Memphis 36-20 in the paint and 24-4 off turnovers.
• Memphis was led by Precious Achiuwa who finished with 10 points and 6 rebounds ... he scored the first 8 points for Memphis, but only made a pair of free throws the rest of the way.
• The Tulsa victory extended Tulsa's 4 game winning streak in the American Athletic Conference ... and continued the Hurricane's success of defeating Memphis (6-0) in the Reynolds Center since joining the American Athletic Conference.
SCOUTING THE HUSKIES
• UConn was picked to finish 6th in The American Athletic Conference ... the Huskies finished last season with a record of 16-17, 6-12 in conference play.
• UConn is coached by second-year head coach Dan Hurley.
• The Huskies are 1-4 in conference play most recently losing to Houston on the road, 63-59 on Thursday, Jan 23.
• UConn is 8-2 at home this year with their only losses coming vs. Saint Joseph's on Nov. 13 with a final of 96-87 and in double-overtime against Wichita State 89-86 on Jan. 12.
• The Huskies have The American's 10th leading scorer in Christian Vital who averages 14.2 points ... Vital is also 10th in the conference in rebounds with 6.7 per game.
• Four Huskies score 9+ points a game, Alterique Gilber (9.6), Tyler Polley (9.5), Josh Carlton (9.4) and James Bouknight (9.4).
• Gilbert and Vital were both named to the Preseason All-Conference Second Team ... Bouknight was named Freshman of the Week on Nov. 25 ... Vital has been named to the AAC's weekly honor roll 3 times and Carlton was selected once.
A TULSA WIN WOULD
• Give Tulsa their 7th victory against UConn ... extending Tulsa's winning streak against Huskies to 5-0.

JACKSON FINDING THREE POINT TOUCH
• After competing in 59 games without a made 3-pointer, junior Darien Jackson has gone 7-13 (54%) in the last 4 contests from 3-point range.
• He was perfect (2-2) from the three-point line leading him to 10 points against Memphis.
• He scored a career-high 19 points on 7-13 shooting against Houston ... made his first career 3-pointer in that game after missing his first 20 career tries.
