TULSA, Okla. –– Former University of Tulsa Basketball Coach Bill Biggs, who coached the Golden Hurricane women's basketball teams from 1979 thru 1982, passed away Sunday after an eight-year battle with Parkinson's Disease at the age of 74.
In the early stages of the Tulsa women's program, Biggs coached for three seasons. He coached Tulsa to two seven-win campaigns after Hurricane teams won just a total of nine games in three years before his arrival.
After earning his master's degree in sports administration from Tulsa, Biggs taught and coached at several local Christian schools, including the former Tulsa Christian Academy, Mingo Valley Christian School and Wright Christian Academy.
Biggs continued to be a big Golden Hurricane fan after leaving his coaching post.
Biggs supported the New Life Ranch Christian Camp, where he was a former camper, counselor, summer program director and special speaker for more than five decades.
Due to coronavirus there will be no public memorial service until April 1, 2021 at the New Life Ranch in Colcord, Oklahoma.
