Golden Hurricane Volleyball Signs Two to the 2021 Signing Class

TULSA, Okla. – The University of Tulsa volleyball team signed Rachel Brown and Bailey Birmingham to the 2020 signing class, announced by head coach Ryan Wills today.

Brown, the League City, Texas native, is in her fourth season at Clear Falls High School, where she has played both a middle blocker and outside hitter. The 5'11" senior has accumulated so far in her career 851 kills, 296 blocks and 456 digs. She was dominant her junior season putting in a career high 356 kills only needing 96 sets to do so.
 
Brown was named to the Texas Association of Volleyball Coaches (TAVC) All-Texas team after her junior season. She also earned first-team all-district and all-academic team honors for the Clear Creek ISD. Her play in 2019 lead her to be named in the 2020 VYPE Houston Volleyball Preseason Outside Hitter of the Year Poll as well as selected to the TAVC preseason All-State watch list.
 
At Clear Falls, Brown has led her team to two Texas 6A Quarterfinals appearances and a 6A Regional Finals appearance. The outside hitter has helped her team to six preseason tournament first place finishes.

Birmingham, a 5'11" right side, joins the Hurricane after four seasons at Prosper High School. The Prosper, Texas native has led her team to post season success, including a 46-10 season and State Championship her freshman season. During her current senior year, Birmingham has 149 kills, 21 blocks and a .415 hitting percentage.
 
The right side's best season came in her junior year as she had 263 kills, 49 blocks and a .336 hitting percentage. Those numbers earned her a first-team all-district honor, as well as her being named Prosper volleyball offensive most valuable player. Birmingham also was named to the 2019 all-academic all-district team.

The Golden Hurricane comes off of a quarterfinal appearance in the National Invitational Volleyball Championship (NIVC). They will start their season in the spring due to the Coivd-19 pandemic.
