TYLER, Texas –– A pair of Tulsa offensive stars from last week's come-from-behind win against Tulane were chosen as two of the eight honorable mention selections for the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Player of the Week Award, it was announced today by the Tyler Area Chamber of Commerce and SPORTyler.

The award recognizes those football student-athletes meeting one of the following criteria: born in Texas and /or graduated from a Texas High School and/or played at a Texas-based junior college of four-year Division I Texas college.

On Tulsa's next possession starting with 1:38 on the clock, Brin marched Tulsa 75 yards in 9 plays and on 3rd-and 7 with 0:06 remaining threw a 37-yard "Hail Mary" touchdown pass to JC Santana for a 21-21 score to send the game into overtime.

Brin, a 6'2" sophomore from Boerne, Texas, completed 18-of-28 passes for 266 yards and 2 touchdowns in his first significant playing time of his career. He also rushed for 11 yards, including an 18-yard TD.

Santana was on the receiving end of that game-tying 37-yard 'Hail Mary' pass as time expired. He ended the game with his first career 100-yard receiving game on 8 receptions for 138 yards.

Santana caught a 37-yard pass on 3rd-and-5 on Tulsa's first scoring possession and had a 12-yard reception on Tulsa's game-tying drive to put Tulsa in Tulane territory at the 40-yard line, setting up his 'Hail Mary' reception.

Named after 1977 Heisman Trophy-winning running back Earl Campbell, the award recognizes the top offensive player in Division I football who also exhibits the enduring characteristics that define Earl Campbell: integrity, performance, teamwork, sportsmanship, drive, community, and tenacity; specifically tenacity to persist and determination to overcome adversity and injury in pursuit of reaching goals.
