STILLWATER, Okla. - The Tulsa women's tennis team suffered a 6-1 loss to No. 16-ranked Oklahoma State on Saturday afternoon at Greenwood Tennis Center. With the loss, the Golden Hurricane fall to 6-2 overall while the Cowgirls stand at 7-1 on the year. The loss marks Tulsa's second straight road loss to a top 20 opponent.

The Hurricane had an early 1-0 lead over the Cowgirls, as Tulsa captured wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles, respectively. Laia Conde Monfort and Megan Hopton improved to 5-2 at No. 2 doubles with a 6-3 win over Bunyawi Thamchaiwat and Lenka Stara. TU would secure the doubles point in the third spot, as Shura Poppe and Elodie Foster came from behind in a 7-5 triumph vs. Dariya Detkovskaya and Alana Wolfberg. They are now 7-2 at No. 3 singles.

Martina Okalova was held scoreless in the first set at No. 1 singles vs. No. 29 Thamchaiwat. But the 52nd-ranked Hurricane stormed back in the second set, as she won 6-2 and forced a third-set tiebreaker. Okalova would come just shy of the upset in a heartbreaking 6-0, 2-6, 1-0(10) loss. Conde Monfort also played a a third-set tiebreaker, but fell to Wolfberg 6-4, 7-5, 1-0(3).

Tulsa returns to Michael D. Case Tennis Center on Sunday, February 9, as Abilene Christian comes to town for the lone home dual match in February. The match is slated for a 1 p.m. start.
