Golden Hurricane Conclude Competition at Iowa State Classic, Gorilla Classic

TULSA, Okla. - The Tulsa track and field team concluded competition on day two of the Iowa State Classic and the Fifth Annual Indoor Gorilla Classic on Saturday. In total, a combined 12 student-athletes set new personal-best times in their respective events.
On the women's side, all competitors at the Gorilla Classic, hosted by Pittsburg State, finished the day with a new PR.
Reagan Hausmann trimmed over two seconds off her best time in the 3,000-meter run, as she finished at 10:01.69 for fourth place. Chloe Hershenow finished seven-hundredths of a second from a spot in the top 10, as she finished 11th out of 58 competitors in 10:12.72.
In the 800-meter run, Alyssa Solberg posted a time of 2:14.25 for fourth place. That currently ranks 10th in the American Athletic Conference. Jhordin Galmore was the final Hurricane to set a PR time at Pitt State. She trimmed over one second off her previous time in the 400-meter dash, as he finished at 1:01.02.
Carsyn Spurgeon finished runner-up in the 200-meter dash at the Iowa State Classic with a new PR time of 24.90. Keely Jones cut over six seconds off her previous PR time in the mile run, as she finished to a time of 4:52.36. In the 800-meter run, Brianna Hays and Jaidah McCallon each finished within one-tenth of a second of each other. They posted times of 2:14.97 and 2:15.07, respectively.
Four men set new personal-best times on Saturday, two at each invitational. Rory Seidel (1:57.20) and Stanley Williams (2:00.03) each set PR times in the 800-meter run at the Gorilla Classic.
At Iowa State, Kyran Lacy took 12th in the 200-meter dash in 22.37. He finished just behind teammates Cameron Conyers (22.29) and Josh Sutton (22.33). The final Hurricane to set a PR time was Mason Walters. He ran in the 800-meter run and erased over three seconds off his previous PR with a time of 1:53.66.
The Golden Hurricane will now prepare for the American Athletic Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships. The two-day conference championship meet begins on Friday, February 28, at the Birmingham Crossplex, in Birmingham, Alabama.
