Igbanu Named to Last AAC Weekly Honor Roll of the Season

TULSA, Okla. – The University of Tulsa senior forward Martins Igbanu was named to the last American Athletic Conference weekly honor roll of the season, the league announced today.
Igbanu led the Hurricane in scoring with 18.5 points per game in the last week of regular season play. His play helped Tulsa capture its first AAC regular season championship since joining the conference.
He scored 17 points on 6-11 shooting from the field and 5-6 from the free throw line in a 61-51 victory on the road over the Temple Owls. Igbanu grabbed 4 rebounds and put in a block to help the Hurricane to its 13th conference victory.
In his last regular season game as a Hurricane, Igbanu scored 20 points against Wichita State in a 79-57 loss in Wichita. He shot 70-percent (7-10) from the field, 67-percent (2-3) from three and 50% (4-8) from the charity stripe in the game. He tied for 20th all-time in career rebounds at 634 with his 3 rebounds against the Shockers.
This marked the 10th time this season that a Hurricane player has been named to an AAC weekly honor. Brandon Rachal received the AAC Player of the Week twice (Nov. 18 and Jan. 20), Martins Igbanu earned the honor (Jan. 27) and Elijah Joiner was honored on Feb. 3. Brandon Rachal (Dec. 2), Lawson Korita (March 2), Jeriah Horne twice (Dec. 23 and Jan. 6) and Martins Igbanu (Feb. 10 and Feb. 17) have been named to the weekly honor roll.
The Hurricane begins the American Athletic Conference Tournament on Friday, March 13 as they face the winner of No 6 Memphis and No.11 East Carolina at 8:30 (CT).
