Tulsa Earns 6-1 Win at Oral Roberts on Monday

TULSA, Okla. - The Tulsa women's tennis team dominated Oral Roberts in singles competition on Monday for a 6-1 win at the Bernis Duke Tennis Center on the campus of ORU. The Golden Hurricane improve to 9-4 overall with the win, while the Golden Eagles drop to 5-8 this season.

The match was originally scheduled for Wednesday, April 1, at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center on the campus of TU. It currently stands as Tulsa's final road match of the regular season. With the change in venue, it also marks as Tulsa's first trip to its cross-town rival in three decades.

Laia Conde Monfort improved to 17-5 overall and 8-2 in her dual matches with a straight-sets win at No. 4 singles vs. Rai Sengupta 6-0, 6-0. Marina Davtyan followed Conde Monfort with the second point of the day, as she took down Flavia Guiterrez 6-1, 6-0, in the No. 6 position. Vera Ploner earned a 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 3 singles over Aliksandra Lebedeva. Shura Poppe's won in the No. 2 slot in a 7-6, 6-4 triumph over Ivana Babic.

No. 118-ranked Martina Okalova and Lian Benedejcic each claimed three-set wins at No. 1 and No. 5 singles, respectively. Okalova recovered from a first-set deficit, as she took down Oleksandra Nahurska 6-7, 6-0, 6-4. Bendejcic tallied the sixth and final point of the day for TU in her 6-3, 5-7, 6-1 victory over Reagan Miley. The freshman now stands at 14-8 overall.

The Golden Eagles secured the doubles point over the Hurricane, as Tulsa's No. 2 and No. 3 doubles tandems each fell in 7-6 decisions. In the top spot, No. 44-ranked Okalova and Ploner defeated Babic and Lebedeva, 6-1.

Tulsa ends its regular season a 10-match homestand, starting on Saturday against Wichita State (7-10). The match is slated for a 1 p.m. start at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.
