TULSA, Okla. – Tulsa Head Coach Philip Montgomery was impressed with his team's energy Tuesday as the Golden Hurricane returned to the practice field following a day off on Monday. It was the second day of classes as the Hurricane returned for a 2-hour workout on Harwell Field.

Today's practice saw the return of the eight players who have been medically cleared to resume practice activities after being in isolation due to positive tests for the COVID-19 virus.

"We had great energy," said Montgomery.

"You always worry about it once school starts –– you have classes on Monday, had Tuesday class and then having your first true afternoon workout in the heat. Our guys handled it really well," said Montgomery. "Our energy level and our execution was good today."

Tulsa coaches continue to install even as preseason camp has shifted to practice on school days due to the nine-day pause in practice.

"Obviously we're behind in our installation, but our guys are really focused in meetings, but until you do it on the field it's different," added Montgomery. "We're installing as fast as we can right now, making sure we don't overlook anything and that we don't go so fast that we just don't cover it as well as we need. We have to push the button on the install, but you've got to make sure the guys are understanding all the different facets of that scheme."

In other news, Oklahoma State transfer Bryce Bray, a 6'4", 310-pound offensive lineman from local Bixby High School, officially became a team member today after beginning classes. Bray played in all 13 games and started 11 contests in 2019 between right tackle, left tackle and left guard.
