Shura Poppe Named The American’s Women’s Tennis Player of the Week

IRVING, Texas –– University of Tulsa tennis student-athlete Shura Poppe was named the American Athletic Conference's Player of the Week, it was announced today by the league office.

Poppe, a redshirt junior from Vlissingen, Netherlands, is off to a perfect 4-0 record in singles play, while posting a 3-1 doubles mark to help the Golden Hurricane to a 3-1 start to the dual match season.

She scored singles wins in Tulsa's victories against Louisiana Tech, Central Arkansas and Wyoming and provided the Golden Hurricane's lone team point with a win at No. 2 singles against Oklahoma. She added doubles victories against Louisiana Tech, Central Arkansas and Wyoming, playing at the No. 2 position.

The weekly award is Poppe's first career conference player of the week honor.
