Tulsa Drops Friday Night Home Match to Tulane

TULSA, Okla. – The Tulsa volleyball team dropped Friday night's match to Tulane in straight sets, 26-24, 25-19, 25-19. Tulsa drops to 12-10 on the season, 7-6 in American Athletic Conference play while Tulane improves to 15-10, 8-5 in AAC play.

The Golden Hurricane went back and forth with Tulane in the opening set, having the match tied up at eight different times. With Tulsa having set point at 24-22, the Green Wave ripped off four straight points, three of them being kills, to take the opening set. Maggie Hembree and Aysu Dalogullari both recorded four kills in set one.

Tulane carried its momentum into the second set, leading the set completely after being tied 1-1. The Green Wave tallied seven blocks in the set, including three in a row at one point, before jumping out to a 2-0 match lead.

With its backs against the wall, Tulsa came out firing with early kills from Callie Cook, Kayley Cassaday and Dalogullari. After more back and forth action, including 13 total third set ties, Tulane went on a 4-0 run to go up 20-16 at a crucial point. The Green Wave rode the advantage into a 25-19 set win and gave them the match win in straight sets.

Cassaday paced the Hurricane with eight kills on the night, while Cook dropped seven kills and a career-high eight digs. Roosa Rautio, who made her first start since September 10th against Stephen F. Austin, had 25 assists, eight digs, and a service ace. The Hurricane had six service aces on the night, including two from Maddie Flora and Dalogullari.

Tulsa will return to action on Sunday, November 7th at 1 pm when they host Houston.
