TULSA, Okla. – After being named to the American Athletic Conference All-Conference First Team last week, Kayley Cassaday was named a 2021 North All-Region Honorable Mention Tuesday by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (ACVA).
Cassaday led Tulsa with 455 kills this season, 3.99 kills per set, both third-most in the AAC. Cassaday was named to the AAC Weekly Honor Roll twice during the season.
"I'm happy for Kayley to be honored," head coach Ryan Wills said. "What people might not understand is that this region we are in is arguably the hardest to achieve an honor of any in the country. With teams like Nebraska and Minnesota in your region, it becomes a tough task. Her hitting percentage and her ability to help us beat some really good teams helped her achieve this."
Cassaday, an Overland Park, Kansas native, posted a career-high 26 kills in the win over East Carolina on November 19. The junior finished the season with nine matches of 20 or more kills.
Cassaday's nomination is the second AVCA North All-Region Honorable Mention under Wills, joining Taylor Horsfall back in 2019.
Tulsa finished the 2021 season with a NIVC birth, and finished 14-16 overall, 9-11 in AAC play. Excluding last spring's shortened season, it was the third-straight NIVC appearance for Tulsa.
