The Tulsa women's soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision at #23 Memphis on Wednesday night at the Track and Soccer Complex in Memphis, Tenn.  The Golden Hurricane fell to 0-1 on the season, while the Tigers moved to 2-0 overall.
 
"I felt like the first half we did okay and did things we've been working on, but we were able to settle in in the second half, create some opportunities off corner kicks and did some good things defensively as well," Head Coach Kyle Cussen said.  "I told the team afterwards that this is a starting point.  We haven't played a game since the fall of 2019 so there is going to be a learning curve, but we had to start somewhere and I'm optimistic with what we are doing."
 
Clarissa Larisey gave the Tigers a 1-0 lead with just one minute remaining in the first half off an assist from Samantha Murphy, and then added a second goal in the 79th minute for the final score.
 
Memphis had a 25-3 lead in shots, including a 9-2 advantage in shots on goal, and a 13-4 lead in corner kicks.
 
Emily Brandenburg, Gabriella Borboa and Kayla Fernandez all had one shot in the contest, while Emma Malsy logged all 90 minutes in goal and picked up six saves.
 
Tulsa will return to action on Sunday, February 28 against UCF.  Game time is set for 1:00 pm at the Hurricane Soccer and Track Stadium.
