Alex Meinhard scored two goals and recorded an assist to lead Tulsa to a 3-1 win over UCF on Saturday night at the Hurricane Soccer and Track Stadium.  The Golden Hurricane moved to 2-0 on the season, while the Knights fell to 1-3 overall.

"They pressed us very well today, but it did leave us some room up front and obviously Alex did a great job of taking advantage of what they gave us," Head Coach Tom McIntosh said.  "We didn't possess it nearly like we are capable of, but sometimes you just have to take what you're given.  We defended the danger areas very well.  I thought our back line, our center backs, were very good, and Lucas Cline made a huge save in the first half.  I think in the second half we got better in terms of our possession and even defensively in the midfield.  We are happy to get the win and I'm proud of the guys."

Meinhard put Tulsa on the board in the 15th minute as he drilled in a score from six yards out from left to right.  He then gave TU a two-goal cushion in the 30th minute, but this time scored from right to left from 10 yards out.  The Hurricane took that 2-0 advantage into halftime.

Mauricio Villalobos got one back for the Knights with just 2:25 ticked off the clock (47:25) in the second half as he punched in a goal from three yards out into the lower left corner.

Ben Barkley scored his first collegiate goal at the 65:10 mark.  His goal was scored from four yards out from the middle of the goal into the lower right corner.

UCF had a 16-9 lead in shots, including a 7-6 edge in shots on goal, and a 9-1 lead in corner kicks.

Meinhard had a team-best five shots, three of which were on goal, while Malik Henry-Scott, Johan Juarez, Luke Jeffus and Barkley all had one attempt.  Lucas Cline logged all 90 minutes in goal and picked up six saves.

Tulsa will return to action on Saturday, March 6 at USF.  Game time is set for 6:00 pm in Tampa, Fla.
