Dean Orford Gets 300th Career Win as Tulsa Downs #30 Texas Tech 4-3

TULSA, Okla. –– The Tulsa women's tennis team captured a 4-3 victory over the 30^th-ranked Texas Tech Red Raiders on Wednesday night at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center. Tulsa improved to 8-4 with the victory, while Texas Tech fell to 12-5.

With the match tied 3-3, it all came down to the No. 6 position where Tulsa's Lian Benedejcic downed Tech's Bojana Marinkova 6-4 in the final set. Benedejcic won the first set 7-6, while Marinkova forced the third set with a 6-3 win in set two.

The Hurricane began the match by taking the doubles point from the Red Raiders, winning at the No. 1 spot where

Tech took the first win in doubles play at the No. 2 slot, but Laie Conde Monfort and Megan Hopton knotted it up with a 6-3 victory at the No. 3 spot. Tulsa's 27^th-ranked team of Martina Okalova and Vera Ploner clinched the doubles point with a 6-4 win against the 45^th-ranked team of Lisa Mays and Kaitlin Staines.

The Red Raiders tied the score with a 6-1, 6-3 win at the No. 4 position. Monfort put the Hurricane back up 2-1 with a 6-3, 2-6, 6-1 at the No. 2 spot, before Tech tied the match again with a win at the No. 3 spot.

Okalova put Tulsa up 3-2 with her 7-6, 7-5 victory at the No. 1 position after trailing 4-1 in the first set. Tech tied the match at 3-3 with a win at the No. 5 spot, setting up the game clinching match at the No. 6 position.

Tulsa will host Wichita State this Saturday at 12:30 p.m. at the Case Tennis Center.
