Tulsa Men’s Tennis Upset Bid Falls Short 4-3 Against No. 18 OSU

TULSA, Okla. –– The Tulsa took the 18^th-ranked Oklahoma State Cowboys to the wire, but fell 4-3 in a matchup of two of the nation's top-30 teams Thursday afternoon at the Michael D. Case Center.

The 30^th-ranked Golden Hurricane dropped to 9-8 on the season, while OSU improved to 7-5.

Tulsa jumped out to a 1-0 lead by capturing the doubles point with wins at the No. 1 and No. 2 positions. Stefan Hampe and Boriss Kamdem won the first doubles match with a 6-2 win.

After OSU evened the doubles with a win at No. 3, the nation's 29^th-ranked team of Connor Di Marco and Kody Pearson took down OSU's 24^th-ranked tandem of Matej Vocel and Henrik Korsgaard by a score of 6-4 to clinch the doubles point.

Daniel Siddall's impressive 6-1, 6-4 victory at the No. 6 singles spot gave the Hurricane a 2-0 lead. The Cowboys tied the match with wins at the No. 3 and No. 4 positions before Tulsa's Juan Pablo Cenoz put Tulsa back on top 3-2 with a 6-4, 6-04 win at the No 5 position.

OSU's 106^th-ranked Emile Hudd defeated Connor Di Marco in straight sets at the No. 2 spot, while 44^th-ranked Matej Vocel defeated 73^rd-ranked Kody Pearson 7-5, 7-6 at the No. 1 position to give the win to the Cowboys.

In the season opener in January, Tulsa fell to this same Cowboy squad by a 7-0 score.
