Callie Cook Breaks the All-Time Career Block Assist Record in TU Loss

TULSA, Okla. – Callie Cook breaks the all-time career block assist record, but the Hurricane drops its' season finale 3-0 to the Tulane Green Wave Saturday afternoon.

Cook surpassed Hannah Stout's decade long record of 348 block assists with two block assists against the Green Wave. She ended the match leading the Hurricane with 10 of TU's 31 kills. The junior recorded a .476 hitting percentage, going the entire match without an error.

On senior day, the Hurricane's lone senior, Maggie Hembree, put in 5 kills on 12 total attacks. The Tulsa native led the team in blocks, putting in 5 during the match.

Aysu Dalogullari played well for TU, recording 5 kills as well as leading the team with 16 digs. Roosa Rautio did it all for the Hurricane putting in 18 assists, 7 digs, 2 kills and 2 service aces.

Libero Hannah Overmyer finished her season strong with 15 digs, 2 assists and 2 service aces. Overmyer began the season as an outside hitter before converting to libero after the first match.

Tulsa fell behind early in each set, consistently battling back to push the Green Wave to the edge. In the first set, Tulsa tied the contest 19 all, but Tulane fired back ending the set on a 6-2 run. The Hurricane used a 4-0 run to tie set two at 23-23, but the Green Wave used a kill by Mackenzie Martin to close out their 25-23 set win.

Tulsa finishes the shortened season, going 2-8 on the season. Rautio won American Athletic Conference Player of the Week after the Hurricane swept Memphis. Cook highlighted the season for TU breaking both the all-time career blocks and all-time career block assist records.
