Tulsa Women’s Tennis Falls to Oklahoma 5-2

TULSA, Okla. –– The Tulsa women's tennis dropped a 5-2 decision against the Oklahoma Sooners Saturday afternoon at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center. Tulsa fell to 6-3 on the season, while the Sooners improved to 7-2.
OU took the doubles point with wins at the No. 2 and 3 spots and then clinched the match for the Sooners' fourth win when Dana Guzman came back from a 1-0 deficit (3-6) and won the next two sets over Shura Poppe at the No 2 position.
Tulsa's Martina Okalova won the point at the No. 1 spot for the Hurricane with a 7-5, 4-6, 6-2 victory over Carmen Corley.
Lian Benedejcic gave the Hurricane win No. 2 on the day with a 3-set triumph over Kianah Motosono at the No. 6 position. Benedejcic took the first set 7-6, dropped the second 6-4 and then won the tiebreak in the final set 10-7.
Tulsa will be back at the Case Tennis Center next Saturday to face the nation's 17th-ranked Oklahoma State Cowgirls in a 12 p.m. match.
