Tulsa Women’s Tennis Wins at North Texas 4-2

DENTON, Texas –– The Tulsa women's tennis team captured a 4-2 victory after falling behind 1-0 on Saturday afternoon against North Texas at the Waranch Tennis Complex. The win gives Tulsa an 11-4 record on the season, while North Texas fell to 6-10.

The Golden Hurricane dropped doubles matches at No. 1 and No. 2 positions, thus losing the doubles point and falling behind 1-0.

Vera Ploner's identical straight set wins by scores of 6-3 at the No. 4 spot tied the match at 1-1. Valeryia Rozenkove and Lian Benedejcic gave Tulsa a 3-1 lead by winning at the No. 5 and No. 6 spots. Rozenkova won her ninth match of the season with a 6-2, 6-3 win at the fifth spot, while Benedejcic improved to 12-2 on the year with a 6-4, 6-1 win at the No. 6 position.

North Texas' Lucie Devier upset the nation's 98^th-ranked Martina Okalova 7-5, 6-4 to cut Tulsa's lead to 3-2. Laia Conde Monfort claimed a 6-4, 6-3 win at the No. 2 spot to clinch the victory for the Hurricane.

Tulsa will play at SMU tomorrow at 1 p.m.
