Tulsa Golfers in 6th Place at Let Them Play Classic

CHANDLER, Ariz. –– Four members of the Tulsa women's golf team began play Thursday in the Let Them Play Classic at the Whirlwind Golf Club and sit in 6^th place heading into Friday's final round. The first 18 holes were played at the par-72 Cattail Course, while the day's second round was played on the par-72 Devil's Claw course.

Tulsa scored rounds of 220 and 225 for a 445 total and is one stroke out of the top-5 teams, while North Texas leads the way with a 422 total score, followed by Houston and Purdue (429), Mississippi State (433) and Oregon State (444) rounding out the top five teams.

With team's not having the same complement of five players, the tournament counts the top-3 individual scores instead of the normal four.

Tulsa's Lorena Tseng turned in the best performance of the day for the Golden Hurricane with rounds of 71 and 74 for an even-par 144 total and enters tomorrow's final round in ninth place.

In the first round, Tseng went 2-under on the final seven holes and ended the round with a 2-under par 70. Tseng was 3-under par in second round action after the first four holes and 5-under for the tournament. Double bogey's on the ninth and 10^th put her at -1 over for the round and 1-under after the first 28 holes.

Haley Greb scored identical rounds of 75 and sits in 24^th place overall with a score of 6-over par 150.

Lilly Thomas and Tita Loudtragulngam are in 32^nd and 34^th place, respectively. Thomas had identical rounds of 76 for a 152 36-hole total and Loudtragulngam totaled rounds of 75 and 78 for a score of 153.

Tulsa golfers took advantage of playing in another tournament after the 2021 campaign came to an abrupt end with the cancelation of all three rounds of the NCAA Baton Rouge Regional due to unplayable conditions. The Let Them Play Classic was organized by Barstool Sports in order to give the teams, that didn't receive an opportunity to advance to the NCAA Championship, another chance to play 54 holes of golf.

Friday's final 18 holes will be played on the par-72 Cattail course.
