Tulsa Men’s Soccer Returns Home to Host #8 Missouri State and #10 Marquette This Week

The Tulsa men's soccer team returns home after starting the season 2-0 on the road to host #8 Missouri State and #10 Marquette on Friday, September 3 and Monday, September 6, respectively. Both games are set to begin at 7:00 pm at the Hurricane Soccer and Track Stadium.
The Tulsa-Missouri State game is Tulsa United Night, connecting the University, the men's soccer program and the community, while hosting the Tulsa Dream Center at the game. An FC Tulsa Game Day Family Pack, including four tickets, four jerseys and a swag bag all donated by FC Tulsa, will be raffled off with the proceeds going to the Tulsa Dream Center.

Fans unable to attend the match in person can watch it live on ESPN+. TU fans can subscribe to ESPN+ to watch select Golden Hurricane basketball, soccer, softball and volleyball games. TU recorded wins over Creighton (2-1) and Omaha (1-0) in the opening weekend. Alex Meinhard had two goals in as many games, both of which were game winners, while Mariano Fazio tallied the first goal of the season for the Golden Hurricane. Alex Lopez and Nolan Cosgrove have both played one complete game in goal and both have four saves. The duo has a combined 0.889 saves percentage and a 0.50 goals-against average.
Missouri State enters the weekend ranked No. 8 in the United Soccer Coaches and College Soccer News polls, and No. 9 in the Top Drawer Soccer poll. The Bears are 2-0 on the season with wins over Belmont (3-1) and Rockhurst (4-0). Jon Koka has a team-best three goals, while four others have one score, and Josh Dolling, Kian Yari and Javier Martin-Gil all have two assists. Harry Townsend and Michael Creek have each played a full game in goal for a combined seven saves, an 0.875 saves percentage, and one goal allowed for a 0.50 GAA.
Tulsa has a 28-13-3 lead in the all-time series with MSU, but it was the Bears that came out on top in a 2-1 overtime win in Springfield in 2019.
Marquette is ranked No. 10 by Top Drawer Soccer, No. 13 by the United Soccer Coaches and No. 14 by College Soccer News. The Golden Eagles are 2-0 on the season with wins over Green Bay (2-0) and SIUE (4-3). Harvey Read has a team-leading two goals, while four others have one score, and Edrey Caceres has two assists. Chandler Hallwood has played all 180 minutes in goal, picked up three saves for a 0.500 saves percentage, and allowed three goals for a 1.50 GAA.
Marquette won the only previous meeting with Tulsa, a 1-0 decision in Milwaukee, Wis., in 1983.
