Megan Nielsen recorded two goals, while Kayla Fernandez and Mia Darden each tallied a score to give the Tulsa women's soccer team a 4-1 win at Temple on Thursday night at the Temple Sports Complex in Philadelphia, Pa.  The Golden Hurricane moved to 6-5-1 on the season and 1-2 in American Athletic Conference play, while the Owls fell to 3-4-3 overall and 1-2 in the league.

This was Tulsa's first conference road win since topping UConn 3-0 in the 2018 season.

"We are improving as the year goes on," Head Coach Jim Rhein said.  "We had some of the best minutes of the year tonight.  Conference wins don't come every day and a road win makes it an even bigger deal.  We're happy to return home with a win and it is definitely something we can build on moving forward this season."

Kayla Fernandez scored her first goal of the season with just 14:13 ticked off the clock to give Tulsa an early lead.  Megan Nielsen then scored two quick goals coming in the 23rd and 25th minutes, doubling her goal total on the season, to put the Hurricane up 3-0.

Roisin McGovern registered a goal at the 28:17 mark to put the Owls on the board and TU took that 3-1 lead into halftime.

Just over 10 minutes into the second half, Mia Darden added a goal for Tulsa and it was the last goal of the night for the 4-1 victory.

Nielsen and Kayla Fernandez each had a team-best four shots, while Liliana Fernandez added three attempts.  Raegan Beeding logged all 90 minutes in goal and picked up four saves.

Temple had a 15-14 edge in shots, but Tulsa had a 9-6 advantage in shots on goal, and the Owls had a 6-1 lead in corner kicks.

Tulsa will return to action on Thursday, October 7 against Memphis beginning at 7:00 pm at the Hurricane Soccer and Track Stadium.
