•   Junior Deneric Prince opened the season with a career-best 151 yards and one TD vs. UC Davis … he ranks 15th in NCAA stats for rushing yards per game and 20th for rush yards.
•   Prince averaged 10.8 yards per carry in the opener and had his second career 100+ rushing game … he ranks 3rd nationally for rushing yards per carry.
•   He also had his second career rushing TD of 55+ yards with a 59-yard touchdown run in the 3rd quarter … he had a career-long 62-yard TD run last season against USF.

BROOKS 5th ON ALL-TIME RUSHING CHART . . .
• Running back Shamari Brooks missed the 2020 season with an ACL injury.
• The senior from Tulsa's Union High School came into the 2021 season ranked 5th on the school's career rushing list with 2,700 yards and 12th for career rushing TDs with 23.
•   Brooks rushed for 80 yards on 10 carries in the season opener.
•   He now has a 2,780 career yards and 23 TDs in 33 career games and needs 220 yards to become the fifth Tulsa running back to reach the 3,000-yard plateau.
•   Brooks is 1,137 yards shy of the school's career rushing leader D'Angelo Brewer (2014-17, 3917 yards) … Brooks is 735 yards shy of moving into a 4th place tie with Trey Watts (2010-13, 3,515 yards)

STOKES SURPASSES 4,000 CAREER ALL-PURPOSE YARDS . . .
•   Senior receiver and kick return specialist Keylon Stokes entered the 2021 season ranked third on the school's career all-purpose yardage chart with 3,956 yards.
•   In the season opener, Stokes totaled 116 all-purpose yards and went over the 4,000-yard plateau, now with a total of 4,072 career yards.
•   Damaris Johnson (2008-10) ranks first on the all-purpose chart with 7,796 yards and Trey Watts (2010-13) is second with 5,877 career yards.
•   In 43 career games, Stokes has caught 159 passes for 2,497 yards, has 60 kickoff returns for 1,244 yards, 220 rushing yards and 111 punt return yards.
•   Stokes is ranked 11th on the school's career receiving chart with 2,497 yards and needs 846 yards to tie Howard Twilley (1963-65) for the school record.

GRADUATE TRANSFER DEBUTS . . .
• Tulsa had two graduate transfers in the starting lineup defensively in the season opener.
•   Jon-Michael Terry, a transfer from Oklahoma, started at linebacker and Texas A&M graduate transfer Travon Fuller was a starting cornerback.
•   Terry had 9 tackles and one sack for a 3-yard loss against UC Davis.
•   Fuller had 3 tackles, all solos, one TFL for -4 yards and 2 pass breakups for the Hurricane.
•   Before coming to Tulsa, Terry played in 42 games and had 8 starts at Oklahoma with 52 tackles … Fuller played in 40 games at A&M but did not have a start … he totaled 21 stops in his A&M career.

RAY LEADS THE DEFENSE . . .
• Junior Kendarin Ray led Tulsa with a career-high 13 tackles in the opener against UC Davis.
•   The double-digit tackle game was his fourth career game with 10 or more stops.
•   Ray also opened last season with a double-digit tackle game when he had 11 stops, all solos, against #11-ranked Oklahoma State.
•   He also had 12 tackles at Tulane in 2019 and had 10 stops against the Green Wave last year.

RUN GAME IMPRESSIVE ON BOTH SIDES FOR TULSA . . .
•   On offense, Tulsa's run game was impressive with 247 yards and 2 TDs … as a group, the
Hurricane averaged 7.3 yards per carry.
•   Tulsa's two main ball-carriers, Deneric Prince had 151 yards for a 10.8 average per carry and Shamari Brooks had 80 yards for an 8.0 average,
•   Defensively, the Hurricane held UC Davis to just 88 yards on the ground for a 1.9 average per rush.
•   Tulsa's defense totaled 9 TFL for 20 yards in lost yardage.
•   In NCAA stats, Tulsa ranks 27th for rushing offense and 40th for rushing defense.
