Tulsa to Continue Spring Indoor Season in Kansas

TULSA, Okla. – Following a successful meet two weeks ago in Arkansas, the Tulsa indoor track and field team will look to continue its momentum when they compete at the Washburn Open this weekend in Topeka, Kansas.
The two-day meet begins on Friday, January 28th with the heptathlon at 11 am. Field events and running events are slated to begin at 3 pm. The Washburn Open will wrap up on Saturday, January 29th, with running events at 11 am and field events at 1 pm.
Overall, there are a total of 65 teams with 910 athletes and 1,476 total entries in the events.
At the Arkansas Invite, Tulsa's Katharina Pesendorfer claimed first in the 1,000-meter run, posting a career-best 2:51.04. The Hurricane posted three top-10 finishes in the 1,000-meter, as Keely Jones took third and Chloe McEachern finished in seventh.
On the men's side, Shay McEvoy and Michael Gates both tallied second place finishes in their respected events. In their indoor track and field debut, McEvoy notched a personal-best 4:02.79-mile time, while Gates also set a personal best time of 8:34.53 in the 3,000-meter run.
