Tulsa trails team leader South Florida by three strokes

BROKEN ARROW, Okla.  –– The Tulsa Golden Hurricane women's golf team sits in second place following Monday's 36 holes at the Dale McNamara Invitational on the par-72 Cedar Ridge Country Club course.
 
Tulsa carded a first round 4-over 292 and had a score of 2-under par in Monday's afternoon round for a 36-hole total of 578. The Hurricane will enter Tuesday's final round just three strokes behind tournament leader and fellow American Athletic Conference member South Florida's score of 575.
 
North Texas (586), Nebraska (589) and James Madison (592) rounded out the top-5 teams.
 
After a 1-over par opening round 73, Tulsa sophomore Lovisa Gunnar tallied five birdies and had just one bogey for a 4-under par 68 in second round action to finish at 3-under 141 for second place after the first 36 holes. Freshman Grace Kilcrease turned in an even-par 144 score after identical rounds of 72 to finish the day in a sixth-place tie.
 
Gunnar trails South Florida's Melanie Green by one stroke, as Green carded a 4-under par score of 140.

Senior Lilly Thomas was the third Tulsa golfer to place among the top-10 after two rounds after scores of 71 and 74 for a 1-over par 145 total for 10th place.
 
Sydney Seigel is in 25th place after a 6-over par 150 total with rounds of 78 and 72, while Emily Boehrer finished in 43rd place with a score of 153. Playing as an individual Jenni Roller placed 53rd with a total score of 155.
 
Final round action will get underway with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start on Tuesday.
