Tulsa Women Fall In Doubles Action, Start Singles Play Friday At ITA Regional Championships

Stillwater, Okla. — The University of Tulsa women's tennis team saw each of its doubles teams fall in Main Draw Doubles action Thursday during the ITA Women's Central Regional Championships in Stillwater.
Each team will get the chance to play in the Consolation Doubles Draw, which starts Friday at 10:15 a.m. for the Golden Hurricane.
Despite Thursday's losses, main draw action continues for the Hurricane as all eight of Tulsa's athletes have been automatically selected to the singles portion of the tournament set to begin Friday morning on the Oklahoma State campus.
First to play for the Hurricane is Lily Hutchings, who will face Jessica Anzo of Wichita State at 11:15 a.m.
Four Tulsa athletes will start their matches at noon, starting with Myroslava Zelenchuk going up against Margaux Guibal Britt of Southern Illinois. Amy Leather will play Vasiliki Karvouni of Minnesota, Oleksandra Nahurska will take on Jaeun Lee of Central Arkansas and Maria Berlanga Bandera will compete against Zoe Adkins of Nebraska-Omaha.
Lian Benedejcic will round out the Round of 128 for the Hurricane when she takes on Missouri's Romary Cardenas at 12:45 p.m.
Laia Conde Monfort and Ana Naranjo Martinez receive first-round byes as they are among the top 32 ranked players in the tournament. No. 4-ranked Monfort will play either Christine Canete (Missouri) or Nyah Kauders (North Dakota) in the Round of 64 at 3 p.m. 31st-ranked Naranjo will play either Laura Masic (Missouri) or Lucy Lu (Minnesota) at 3:45 p.m.
