Tulsa Volleyball To Face SMU, Memphis At Home

TULSA, Okla. – The University of Tulsa volleyball team (9-6, 2-1 AAC) hosts SMU (10-6, 3-1 AAC) and Memphis (11-5, 2-2 AAC) at the Donald W. Reynolds Center this weekend.

The Golden Hurricane will take on SMU on Friday, Oct. 7, at 7 p.m. and will face Memphis on Sunday, Oct. 9 at 1 p.m.

Tulsa leads the country in two statistical categories –– team digs per set at 19.55 and team attacks per set at 40.57.

Tulsa's total number of digs –– 1,095 –– is the sixth-highest mark in the nation. In The American, Tulsa ranks first in digs (1095), digs per set (19.55) and team attacks (40.57).

Tulsa also ranks among the top half of the league in several other categories –– fourth in kills (726), kills per set (12.96), assists (676) and assists per set (12.07).

Senior outside hitter Kayley Cassaday leads Tulsa with 253 kills, 791 total attacks, 4.52 kills per set and 277.5 points scored. She ranks first in The American and second nationally for attacks per set with an average of 14.12. Nationally, he is also third for total attacks (791), 17th for total kills (253), points per set (4.96) and 23rd for total points (277.5).

Sophomore libero Marta Pecalli tops the conference with 312 digs. She ranks fifth nationally for digs per set (5.57) and 21st for total digs (312).

Tulsa and SMU split last year's matches with the Hurricane winning on the road 3-0 but losing at home 3-1. The only conference loss for both teams this season has come against the same opponent, UCF, each losing 3-0 matches. SMU has a 5-1 record over it last six matches, including 3-1 wins over South Florida, Memphis and Cincinnati.

SMU's Natalie Perdue and Jamison Wheeler are ranked 1-2 on the team for kills per set with averages of 3.85 and 3.47, respectively

Tulsa and Memphis split the season series last year with each winning on the other's home floor. The Hurricane won at Memphis in early October, 3-1, and fell 3-2 in late November.

Memphis' two league wins have come over South Florida and Cincinnati, while the losses have been against UCF and SMU. The Tigers finished non-conference action on a six-match winning streak to take a 10-3 record into league play.
