Tulsa Women Start Hurricane Invite Strong

TULSA, Okla. — The University of Tulsa women's tennis team won six of seven matches Friday to wrap up the first day of the Hurricane Invite at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.

Tulsa started the day off right with three straight doubles wins over players from Central Arkansas. Oleksandra Nahurska improved her home doubles record to 4-0 as she and partner Lian Benedejcic took down Konomi Miyakawa and Ting-An Chen 6-1.

Ana Naranjo Martinez and Lily Hutchings partnered up to defeat UCA's Maja Gledic and Jaeun Lee 6-3, while Amy Leather and Myroslava Zelenchuk earned a 6-4 win over Sumomo Hamanaga and Nicole Ross.

In singles play, Hutchings and Zelenchuk took down their opponents from Central Arkansas in straight sets. Benedejcic took it to three sets and won 6-1, 4-6, 6-0 over UCA's Hamanaga.

The Hurricane Invite will resume Saturday at the Case Tennis Center at 9:30 a.m.
