LARAMIE, Wyo. –– Temira Poindexter had a career-high 29 points, Maya Mayberry added 21, Wyvette Mayberry 18 and Rebecca Lescay had a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds in a triple overtime loss to Wyoming in the WNIT Second Round on Sunday afternoon at Arena Auditorium.  The Golden Hurricane concluded the season with a 17-11 mark, while Wyoming moved to 17-12 overall.

This was the first triple overtime game for Tulsa in school history and just the 29th overtime game overall.

Maddie Bittle played all but 45 seconds of the game and added eight points, while Jessika Evans had four points.  Both Mayberry sisters and Bittle added six boards, while Lescay had a team-best six assists, Maya Mayberry had three steals and Poindexter had three blocks.

TU was without freshman guard Delanie Crawford and her 7.3 scoring and 4.2 rebounding average this season. She missed the game due to an injury. The Hurricane played just six players for all but 37 seconds of the contest when Evans fouled out and Lexie Foutch entered the game.

Tulsa had an 8-4 advantage in steals, while Wyoming had a 53-42 lead in rebounds, a 20-17 edge in assists and a 6-4 advantage in blocks.

The Golden Hurricane shot 43.2 percent from the field, 36.0 percent from behind the arc and 78.6 percent from the line, while the Cowgirls were 43.6 percent from the field, 44.0 percent from three-point range and 69.2 percent from the line.

Tulsa jumped out an 8-1 lead at the 8:10 mark and owned an eight point advantage, 12-4, with 5:29 on the clock, but the Cowgirls battled back to pull within three, 12-9, with 4:21 to play in the first quarter.  The Golden Hurricane outscored Wyoming, 8-4, to own a 20-13 advantage at the end of the frame.

TU climbed to an 11-point lead twice in the second quarter, including a 40-29 lead at halftime.  The Golden Hurricane shot 43.8 percent from the field, 38.5 percent from behind the arc and 87.5 percent from the line, while the Cowgirls were 40.7 percent from the field, 22.2 percent from three-point range and 71.4 percent from the line in the first half.  TU also had a 19-16 edge in rebounds in the first 20 minutes.

The Cowgirls outscored the Golden Hurricane, 9-2, to start the third quarter and pull to within four, 42-38, at the 7:07 mark, forcing a TU timeout.  The two teams then went scoreless, missing a combined seven shots.  Alba Sanchez Ramos hit two free throws to end Wyoming's 3:03 scoring drought, and then Wyvette Mayberry ended TU's 4:47 scoring drought with a layup at the 3:44 mark for a 44-40 score.  TU maintained that four point lead at the end of the frame, 50-46.

Wyoming tied the score at 50-50 with 8:54 on the clock in the fourth quarter, but TU outscored the Cowgirls 12-4 for an eight-point lead, 6-54, with 5:19 to play in the contest. Wyoming battled back to tie the score at 62-62 with 2:24 on the clock.  A layup by Allyson Fertig put the Cowgirls up by two, but Lescay evened the score once again with her layup with just 1:35 to play.  Neither team scored in the final 95 seconds to force overtime.

Three lead changes and two tied scores in overtime led to a 70-70 score with 1:37 to play, but a turnover by the Cowgirls gave TU back the ball with 50 seconds to play.  A missed shot, but rebound and defensive foul kept the ball in Tulsa's hands with 24 second left.  TU wasn't able to get a shot off in time forcing a second overtime.

Wyoming hit three-straight baskets to take a 76-70 lead, but a jumper by Poindexter, a three-pointer by Bittle and then a layup by Poindexter put TU up 77-76 with 46 seconds to play in double overtime.  Bittle went one-of-two from the free throw line with 31.9 seconds remaining, missing her first free throw attempt after hitting 23 straight dating back to the Temple game on Feb. 12.

Maya Mayberry then went one-of-two from the line to put TU up three, but a three-pointer by McKinley Bradshaw tied the game at 79-79 and forced triple overtime, the first triple overtime game in Tulsa school history.

Both teams traded three-point baskets for an 82-82 score, but then the Cowgirls went on an 8-0 run to take a 90-82 advantage with 1:20 to play in triple overtime.  Wyvette Mayberry and Temira Poindexter both had two layups each, but they couldn't make up their deficit, falling by seven.

The Cowgirls were led by Quinn Weidemann with 23 points, while Allyson Fertig added 22, and both Alba Sanchez Ramos and McKinley Bradshaw posted 19 points.  Fertig also pulled down 18 rebounds.
