
Tulsa Falls at No. 8 Oklahoma State

STILLWATER, Okla. – The University of Tulsa dropped its midweek game 10-0 in five innings against the eighth-ranked Oklahoma State Cowgirls on Wednesday evening in Cowgirl Stadium.
The Golden Hurricane fell behind early and were unable to get anything going, accruing three hits and committing one error. Meanwhile, OSU scored four in the first, a run in the third and five in the fourth alongside 10 hits and zero errors.
Tulsa dropped to 12-19-1, while Oklahoma State improved to 25-6 with the win and have won nine straight.
Samantha Pochop was in the circle for the Hurricane to start the game. She pitched 3.0 innings and allowed five runs, four earned, and six hits, striking out two. Sara Llamas-Howell pitched the fourth, allowing five runs on four hits.
The Cowgirls threw three pitchers, led by Morgan Day. Day pitched 3.0 innings and gave up two hits with three strikeouts.
Haley Morgan got the game started with a single up the middle for the Hurricane, but she was thrown out trying to steal second. In the bottom of the frame, The Cowgirls loaded the bases with one out. Pochop struck out a Cowgirl for the second out in attempt to escape with no damage.
After six pitches against the next batter, the count was full. Pochop looked to get the needed strikeout looking, but it just missed high, extending the inning and bringing in the first run. A single from the next batter brought in two to make it 3-0. The next batter popped-up but a miscommunication allowed the ball to drop, bringing in the fourth run of the inning
OSU would load the bases again in the third and fourth innings. A hit-by-pitch brought in a run in the third to make it 5-0. In the fourth, a bases-loaded single made it 6-0 and a grand slam cleared the bases and gave OSU the 10-0 lead.
Tulsa got runners on second and third with two outs in the top of the fifth, but a called strike three ended the game.
The Hurricane return to league action this weekend against Wichita State. The first pitch against the Shockers is set for 5 p.m. on Friday in Wichita, Kan.
