TULSA, Okla. ― The Tulsa women's tennis team got back in the win column Thursday afternoon, defeating crosstown rival Oral Roberts 7-0 at the Bernis Duke Tennis Center. The Hurricane improve to 11-6 on the season while tallying its second road victory this spring.
Tulsa won the doubles point for the 14th time this season, as Valeriya Rozenkova/Maria Berlanga won 6-2 at No. 1 doubles while the freshman duo of Lily Hutchings/Ana Naranjo Martinez tallied a 6-1 victory at No. 3 doubles. Rozenkova/Berlanga are now 12-5 this spring from No. 1 doubles, while Hutchings/Naranjo have posted an 11-3 record from No. 3 doubles. As a team, Tulsa is 34-9 in doubles play during the dual season.
The Hurricane rolled its momentum into singles play, as all six Tulsa singles players won in straight sets. The win was the fourth '7-0' victory this season, and sixth shutout of the season.
Tulsa returns to action Saturday, April 2nd at 2 p.m. to host Kansas City, one of five in a row at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center before the American Athletic Conference Championships starting on April 20th.
