Tulsa Golfers, Lilly Thomas in 5th Place After two Rounds at The American Championship

PINEHURST, NC –– After the first 36 holes, the Tulsa golfers sit in a 5th place tie at the American Athletic Conference Championships being played at the par-72 Pinehurst No. 6 course. Tulsa has a two-round score of 602 after finishing the second round at 7-over par 295 for a 602 total score.
Tulsa's Lilly Thomas leads the way for the Golden Hurricane in 5th place after finishing round two at 2-under par 70 for a 2-over par 146 total score, five strokes behind the tournament's individual leader, UCF's Tunrada Piddon (141).
Houston leads the field with an 11-over par 587, followed by UCF (593), SMU (595) and Tulane (597) rounding out the top-4 teams.
The final nine holes of the second round concluded on Monday with the final 18 holes scheduled for Tuesday. Inclement weather on Monday forced officials to split second round action between the two days.
A pair of Tulsa freshman, Lovisa Gunnar and Sydney Seigel are in 12th and 19th place, respectively. Gunnar carded a second-round score of 76 for a 149 total, while Seigel had a round of 75 for a 151 total score.
Sophomore Sophie Johnson scored a 76 for a 155 total and 37th place, while senior Haley Greb turned in Tulsa's second-best round of the day with a round of 2-over par 74.
The final 18 holes will be played on Tuesday.
