Tulsa Falls in AAC Championship

TULSA, Okla. ― The Tulsa women's tennis team's conference championship run ended Saturday night, as the Hurricane fell 4-1 to fourth seeded Memphis in the American Athletic Conference Championship. TU is now 17-8 on the season.
Tulsa won the doubles point for a 19th time this season. Shura Poppe/Laia Conde Monfort collected a 6-2 win at No. 2 doubles to start it off, while Lily Hutchings/Ana Naranjo Martinez claimed the point after a thrilling tiebreaker 7-6 (7-5) win at No. 3 doubles.
Monfort and Poppe were able to force third sets after they each dropped their opening set, but Memphis rattled off four straight set wins from court three to six to claim its first ever AAC Championship.
Tulsa will await its fate the when the NCAA tournament field is announced. The Hurricane entered the AAC Championship ranked 50th in the ITA Rankings.
