2022 VOLLEYBALL SCHEDULE
TULSA, Okla. –– The Tulsa women's volleyball team will open the 2022 season at the Husker Invitational, where the Golden Hurricane, coming off a second straight appearance at the National Invitational Volleyball Championship (NIVC), will face three NCAA Tournament teams, including national runner-up and host Nebraska.
A total of seven Hurricane opponents made postseason competition a year ago with five making the NCAA field and two in the NIVC.
Tulsa will play 10 home matches, 14 road matches and eight at neutral sites. On the schedule is 12 non-conference matches and 20 in the American Athletic Conference.
"This schedule is one that will be one of the most challenging that we've ever faced," said Head Coach Ryan Wills. "We want to play the best and will be better in league play because of our non-conference schedule. Scheduling is one of the reasons we have participated in the postseason our last three full seasons. We want to continue to build on that success."
The rugged schedule kicks off the weekend of August 26-27 at the Nebraska Invitational with three NCAA tournament teams. Pepperdine will be first up for the Hurricane Friday morning, followed by a night match against Nebraska and the final match on Saturday afternoon against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
Tulsa will also play at the Stephen F. Austin Invitational (Sept. 2-3), ORU Golden Eagle Classic (Sept. 9-10) and the Baylor Classic (Sept. 15-16). The Baylor Bears advanced to the third round of the NCAA Tournament a year ago, while SFA made the NIVC Tournament.
The Hurricane will open its 20-match American Athletic Conference schedule the weekend of Sept. 23-25 with home matches at the Donald W. Reynolds Center against East Carolina (Sept. 23) on Friday night and a Sunday afternoon match vs. Temple (Sept. 25).
A road swing to Florida has Tulsa closing out the month of September against South Florida (Sept. 30) and opening the month of October against defending AAC Champions UCF (Oct. 2).
Tulsa will play four home matches in the month with back-to-back matches against SMU and Memphis, Oct. 7-9. A four-game road swing has Tulsa traveling to Wichita State (Oct. 12), Cincinnati (Oct. 16), Tulane (Oct. 21) and Houston (Oct. 23). Tulsa closes out the month in the final weekend against UCF and South Florida, Oct. 28-30.
Tulsa will open the month of November with road matches at Temple and East Carolina, before returning to the Reynolds Center for the final four home matches, all coming on consecutive weekends.
The Hurricane will host Houston (Nov. 11), Tulane (Nov. 13), Wichita State (Nov. 16) and Cincinnati (Nov. 18). Tulsa closes the regular season at Memphis (Nov. 23) and SMU (Nov. 25).
