Tulsa Volleyball To Conclude Non-Conference Action at Baylor Classic

TULSA, Okla. — The University of Tulsa volleyball team will play its final three non-conference matches of the season at the Baylor Classic in Waco, Texas, this Thursday, September 15, and Friday, September 16.
Tulsa will face Baylor (6-2) first on Thursday at 6 p.m. Then the Hurricane will rematch McNeese (2-8) on Friday at 10 a.m. and will conclude the tournament against Sam Houston (3-8) on Friday night at 5 p.m.

Thursday marks the first-ever meeting between Tulsa and Baylor. Baylor is ranked No. 14 in the latest American Volleyball Coaches Association poll. Earlier this season the Bears took a notable 3-1 loss to Pepperdine—who beat Tulsa 3-1 in the season opener—before rebounding to win in five sets over defending national champion Wisconsin.
Last week Baylor earned 3-0 sweeps over Colorado State, Arizona State and Evansville during the Baylor Invitational.
Tulsa and McNeese meet for the second time this season. The two teams met during the Stephen F. Austin Invitational in week two. Tulsa fought back from a 2-0 deficit but could not close out in the fifth set, losing to the Cowgirls 3-2 (23-25, 24-26, 25-12, 25-21, 12-15).
Last week McNeese dropped to 2-8 by going 1-2 at the UTSA Invitational in San Antonio, losing to UTSA and UT Arlington and upsetting South Florida 3-1.
Tulsa and Sam Houston have met six times prior to Friday's match with the Bearkats holding the series advantage 4-2. During the Maverick Classic in Arlington last year, the Hurricane endured a tough 3-2 (14-25, 26-24, 25-23, 16-25, 8-15) loss to Sam Houston.
The Bearkats are 3-8 after taking three-set losses to Ole Miss, Texas State and Wake Forest last week at the Bobcat Invitational in San Marcos, Texas.
