
Pecalli Receives Second Consecutive AAC Volleyball Defensive Player Of The Week Honors

IRVING, Texas — For the second week in a row, sophomore libero Marta Pecalli of The University of Tulsa volleyball team was named the American Athletic Conference's Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced Monday. In addition, outside hitter Kayley Cassaday was named to the AAC's weekly honor roll.
Pecalli anchored the Golden Hurricane defense at the Baylor Classic over the weekend by recording 73 digs at 6.64 digs per set while finishing with a 100% reception percentage. She had a weekend-high 33 digs in the five-set win over Sam Houston.
The Trieste, Italy native helped the Hurricane go 2-1 over the weekend after taking down McNeese and Sam Houston and falling to No. 14 ranked Baylor.
Cassaday had another productive weekend as Tulsa's top scorer. She recorded 53 kills during the tournament and led the team with 4.82 kills per set and 5.18 points per set. She recorded a career-high 74 attacks in the win over Sam Houston, ending the weekend with 161 total attacks.
The Hurricane's first conference match of the season is at home in the Reynolds Center this Friday, September 23, against East Carolina at 7 p.m. Tulsa will follow up with another home conference match on Sunday, September 25, against Temple at 1 p.m.
