Malik Henry-Scott scored two goals, while Thomas Wells and Takayoshi Wyatt each added a score to give Tulsa a 4-1 win over Kansas City on Friday night at the Hurricane Soccer and Track Stadium.  The Golden Hurricane moved to 2-0 on the season, while the Roos fell to 1-2 overall.

"I thought the strikers did a good job in terms of movement and put Kansas City under a lot of pressure," Head Coach Tom McIntosh said.  "We created good chances, 23 shots with 16 on goal, and we needed to do that.  Malik was tremendous tonight, he pressed well and moved well, and Thomas had a goal and an assist.  When Thomas and Taka came into the game they raised the energy level and they made a tremendous impact.  We also did a good job with set pieces, so overall I'm pleased with the group."

Tulsa will return to action against crosstown rival Oral Roberts on Monday, September 5 beginning at 7:00 pm at the Hurricane Stadium.

How it Happened:
Malik Henry-Scott one-timed the ball into the back of the of the net off a rebound attempt taken by Sergio Baena to put TU up 1-0 at the 21:06 mark.  Thomas Wells then gave TU a two-goal cushion headed the ball in from four yards out, and then Takayoshi Wyatt scored from six yards out off a pass from Wells.  The Golden Hurricane took that 3-0 lead into the break.

In the second half, Henry-Scott took a pass that was threaded up the middle by Henry Sach and put the ball into the lower right corner.  Kansas City got one back in the 60th minute, but both teams went scoreless in the final 30 minutes for the 4-1 score.

Game Notes:
  • TU's first half goals came within a 17-minute span.
  • Tulsa had a 23-7 lead in shots, including a 16-4 advantage in shots on goal
  • Tulsa had a 10-5 advantage in corner kicks.
