
Tulsa Volleyball Earns 3-0 Sweep Over Temple

TULSA, Okla. — The University of Tulsa volleyball team posted 39 kills and 61 digs to win 3-0 (25-17, 25-14, 25-13) over the Temple Owls at home in the Donald W. Reynolds Center on Sunday.
The victory boosted the Golden Hurricane's record to 9-5 overall and 2-0 in American Athletic Conference action.
Outside hitter Kayley Cassaday finished with 17 kills on the day to lead the Hurricane attack while finishing with a hitting percentage of .455. Setter duo Brayden and Avery Kalsu combined for 33 assists to boost the Tulsa offense.
Middle blocker Rachel Brown hit for .417 after putting up six kills and only one error in 12 total attacks.
Libero Marta Pecalli led the Tulsa defense with 17 digs at an average of 5.67 digs per set. Setter Avery Kalsu, middle blocker Arianna Mongare and outside hitter Bailey Rowe each chipped in two blocks.
"Going 2-0 to start off conference play is always a good thing," said Head Volleyball Coach Ryan Wills. "We controlled a lot of things in the six sets we won this weekend and that makes you feel good moving forward."
Tulsa hits the road next weekend for a conference match with South Florida, starting at 3 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 30. Then, the Hurricane will take on #25 UCF on Sunday, Oct. 2, at 12 p.m.

SET 1 | The Hurricane grabbed control on the first point and never trailed to secure the first set 25-17. Tulsa opened its biggest lead, eight points, to close out the set, collecting 15 kills along the way.
SET 2 | After its win in the first set, Tulsa overpowered Temple en route to a 25-14 victory in set number two. The Hurricane grabbed control of the set lead early on at 3-2 and never looked back. Tulsa led by as many as 13 points at 23-10 after going on a staggering 11-0 run.
SET 3 | Tulsa closed the match in a 3-0 sweep after taking the third set. The Hurricane grabbed control of the set early when the score was 4-3 and held the lead the rest of the way to win 25-13. Tulsa ended on a strong note, opening its biggest lead of the stanza, 12 points, to finish off the set.
