WICHITA, Kan. —
The University of Tulsa volleyball team lost to the UCF Knights in straight sets (17-25, 16-25, 9-25) Friday at the Charles Koch Arena in Wichita, Kan.
 
The loss dropped the Golden Hurricane's record to 9-6 overall and 2-1 in conference action.
 
Outside hitter Kayley Cassaday finished with 13 kills on the day to lead the Hurricane offense. Setter duo Brayden Hipp (13) and Avery Kalsu (12) combined for 25 assists to boost the Tulsa attack.
 
The Tulsa defense was led by libero Marta Pecalli, who had 14 digs during the match.
 
The Hurricane will look to bounce back when it hosts SMU (9-6, 2-1 AAC) at 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 7. Tulsa will host Memphis (11-5, 1-2 AAC) on Sunday, Oct. 9, at 1 p.m.
 
Game Notes
» Middle blocker Arianna Mongare and outside hitter Kayley Cassaday each had one service ace in the loss.
» Middle blocker Rachel Brown secured the Hurricane's lone block of the match.
» Tulsa was held to a .159 hitting percentage while UCF hit for .408.

SET 1 | The Hurricane fell behind early, losing a tough first set 25-17. Tulsa trailed by as many as eight points as UCF grabbed the advantage for good at 3-2 in a set that was tied up two times before the Knights took control.
 
SET 2 | A 25-16 second-set loss put Tulsa in a 2-0 hole in the match. Tulsa was down by as many as nine points as UCF grabbed the advantage for good at 9-8 in a stanza that was tied up five times before the Knights took over the lead.
 
SET 3 | Tulsa could not win the third set and was swept by UCF. The Hurricane dropped the first point and fought from behind the rest of the way before falling in the set 25-9.
