Nacogdoches, Texas — The University of Tulsa volleyball team lost to the Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks in straight sets (19-25, 16-25, 14-25) Saturday to conclude the SFA Invitational in Nacogdoches.
The non-conference loss dropped the Golden Hurricane to 2-4.
Kayley Cassaday finished with 14 kills on the day to lead the Hurricane attack. Tulsa's offense benefited from a team-high 14 assists from Brayden Hipp.
Marta Pecalli produced 12 digs to lead the Hurricane on the defensive side. The front row tandem of Cassaday and Arianna Mongare produced one block.
The Hurricane will return to action next weekend at the ORU Golden Eagle Classic in Tulsa, where they will face UTEP and cross-town rival host school Oral Roberts on Friday, September 9 beginning at 1:00 p.m. The Hurricane will finish the tournament against Abilene Christian on Saturday, September 10 at 10:00 a.m.

How It Happened
SET 1 | The Hurricane fell behind early, dropping a tough first set 25-19. Tulsa trailed by as many as six points as SFA grabbed the advantage for good at 17-16 in a set that was knotted up 10 times before the Lumberjacks took over in the second half of the stanza.
SET 2 | Tulsa dropped set two 25-16, digging a 2-0 hole in the match. Tulsa trailed by as many as nine points as SFA took the lead for good at 11-10 in a set that was tied up eight times before the Lumberjacks pulled away for good.
SET 3 | SFA finished the match with a set-three win. The Hurricane fell behind on the first point and never took the lead before falling in the set 25-14.
