ST. CHARLES, Mo. — Delanie Crawford led a trio of Hurricane women—who combined for 81 points in the Tulsa women's basketball team's 89-80 season-opening win over the Lindenwood Lions—with a career-high 35 points, the second-most all-time in a game for TU behind Jillian Robbins' 38 points against Nevada in 2005 and Kendrian Elliott's 38 points versus Arkansas State in 2019.
Temira Poindexter (28 points) and Katia Gallegos (18 points) contributed 46 points during the game. With Crawford, the group went 27-46 shooting for a field goal percentage of 58.7%.
"[Delanie Crawford] embodies everything our team is about," said Head Coach Angie Nelp. "I'm just so proud of this whole team. Credit to Delanie, we do want to talk about her and her courage on the floor and the things she does for us. Everybody sees the points, but she does so much more on the floor. On defense she gets the ball to other players and distributes it very well."
"I thought the key to getting off to a great start was our defense. We were able to get stops and get the ball in our hands to open up the floor for our players."
Tulsa's home opener will tip-off Friday, Nov. 10, at 11 a.m., in the Donald W. Reynolds Center. The Hurricane will take on the New Orleans Privateers (0-0).
