Volleyball Set to Host Memphis For Lone Match of the Week

TULSA, Okla. – Following a pair of road setbacks at UTSA last week, the Tulsa volleyball team (13-14, 6-9 AAC) will look to bounce back Friday when the Hurricane hosts the Memphis Tigers (8-19, 4-11 AAC) for an American Athletic Conference showdown in the Donald W. Reynolds Center at 6:30 p.m.
 
The match will stream on ESPN+. Fans unable to attend the action in person can watch it live on ESPN+. Tulsa and Memphis will meet for the 36th time in the series, with the Hurricane leading 21-14. TU has won seven of the last nine matchups.
 
Memphis sits in fifth place in The American East Division with a 4-11 mark in conference play and an overall record of 8-19. Last week, the Tigers suffered consecutive 3-1 road losses to Florida Atlantic (16-11, 8-6 AAC), moving their current losing skid to six losses and falling to 0-9 in road matches.
 
Memphis is fourth in the conference in aces (153) and aces per set (1.53) with defensive specialist Rylee Busse leading the way with a 0.41 aces per set mark.
 
Middle blocker/right side hitter Clara Bednarek leads the offense with 2.17 kills per set while libero Abigail Schlueter powers the defense with 348 digs at 3.63 digs per set.
 
Kayley Cassaday remains one of the top outside hitters in the nation, ranking first in kills (512), second for attacks (1,426) and attacks per set (14.26), third in kills per set (5.12) and points (550) and fourth in points per set (5.5). She leads The American in all six benchmarks.
 
Senior setter Avery Kalsu is The American's leader with 973 total assists and is third in assists per set (9.73).
 
Junior libero Marta Pecalli is fifth in the AAC in total digs (414) and digs per set (4.14). At UTSA last week, she became the fifth Hurricane all-time to pass the 1,500 career-dig mark.
 
Middle blockers Camryn Lingenbrink and Arianna Mongare continue their strong sophomore seasons for the Hurricane. Lingenbrink is 14th in the conference in blocks per set (0.98) while Mongare leads Tulsa with 93 blocks, ranking 10th among all AAC blockers at an average of 0.93 blocks per set.
 
As a team, Tulsa remains the nation's leader in attacks per set (39.06) while ranking tenth for total attacks (3,906), 17th for total digs (1,677) and 18th nationwide in digs per set (16.77). In The American, Tulsa is first in attacks per set (39.06) and total attacks (3,906) while ranking second for team digs (1,677) and digs per set (16.77) behind Rice.
