LEXINGTON, Ky. – After earning her third consecutive American Athletic Conference First Team All-Conference honors a week ago, The University of Tulsa's Kayley Cassaday was named First Team North All-Region, announced Tuesday by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA). She brings home her second career AVCA award after being named North All-Region Honorable Mention in 2021.
The north region is comprised of 37 total schools, including Nebraska, Minnesota and Michigan State. Other teams from The American that are housed in the north are Wichita State, North Texas, East Carolina, Temple, Memphis and Charlotte.
"Kayley continues to prove that she's one of the elite outsides in the country," said Head Coach Lauren Ramatowski. "There are so many wonderful hitters in the north region, so for her to earn this amongst those talented young ladies is truly amazing. Her body of work this season has proven that she is one of the best to do it."
From Overland Park Kan., Cassaday led the Golden Hurricane and The American in points (681.5), points per set (5.54), kills (632) and kills per set (5.14) this season. She helped Tulsa go 7-3 against north region teams, with the losses only against Wichita State. She reached double-figure kills across all ten matches and amassed over 20 in three.
Cassaday was a key contributor for the Hurricane in earning their first NIVC bid since 2021, the best overall record (17-14) and home record (8-4) since 2019 and the best conference finish (10-9) since 2018.
