TULSA, Okla. — The University of Tulsa track team is set to begin its 89th year of competition Saturday at the Crimson and Gold Invitational, hosted by Pittsburg State in Pittsburg, Kan.

The Golden Hurricane will send 32 athletes—17 women and 15 men—to compete in 17 events. Both teams have entrants in the 60-meter dash, 200-meter dash, 300-meter dash, 600-yard run, mile, 3,000-meter run, and 4x400-meter run. Returning sophomore Dillon Stinson will compete in the men's long jump while sophomore Rylie Hancock will compete in the women's triple jump. The trio of sophomore Sarah Hosey, sophomore Billie Rouse and true freshman Anastasia Small will open their season in the women's 800-meter run, with Rouse and Small seeing their first collegiate action.

The 2023-24 track roster comprises 54 student-athletes from around the world, ranging from Tulsa to the United Kingdom, New Zealand, Germany, Austria, Yemen, Australia and the Netherlands. The men's team boasts 30 student-athletes while 24 make up the women's team.

TU welcomes 12 men and seven women as newcomers to this year's squad, of which four are transfers. They are Colton Berquist (Lake Sumter State), Grant Brawley (Marquette) and Jaden Forester (New Orleans) for the men and Kamree Dye (John Brown) for the women.

Tulsa returns ten all-conference performers from last season's indoor track squad—six men and four women—including one conference champion.

Senior distance runner Christian Baker returns for his fourth indoor season for the Golden Hurricane after being crowned last year's indoor conference champion in the men's mile, which he finished in 4:05.67.

Katharina Pesendorfer returns to the Hurricane following a redshirt year. The Salzburg, Austria, native is a three-time indoor all-conference runner who holds the third-fastest indoor 3,000-meter run-time in program history (9:27.97) and the fourth-quickest indoor mile (4:46.27) and 1,000-meter run (2:51.04). In her last indoor meet, Pesendorfer claimed the 2022 AAC title in the 3,000-meter run.

Other returning indoor all-conference recipients from last season include Sean Korsmo (800m), Chanel Muir (mile), Evan Sanni-Thomas (4x400m), Malte Propp (5,000m) and Josh Sutton (4x400m) from the men's team, joined by Chloe Hershenow (3,000m, 5,000m), Lianne Holtermann (DMR, 4x400m), Sarah Hosey (DMR) and Elizabeth Roca (4x400m) from the women's side.

After the Crimson & Gold Invitational, Tulsa will return to action on Jan. 12 at the Arkansas Invitational. Then, the Hurricane will compete in Iowa State's Cyclone Open (Jan. 19) and the Wendy's/Pittsburg State Invitational (Jan. 27) to wrap up the January slate.

From Feb. 9-10, Tulsa will concurrently compete at the Gorilla Classic and Windy City Invite before heading to Birmingham, Ala., for The American Indoor Championships spanning Feb. 23-24.

The 2023-24 indoor track season concludes with the NCAA Indoor Championships scheduled for March 8-9 in Boston.
